River warning Kahuterawa River (Palmerston North) February 11th, 2020 2008-01-11T14:20:41+13:00 Graeme McIntyre advises that after the very high river levels on the Kahuterawa River early this week (that saw the river flowing higher than it did in the February 2004 February floods) a farm bridge over the Kahuterawa at the Scott’s Road end of the river (the first bridge you paddle under not far from the first drop) has been washed-out as well as some trees in the area. It is highly likely that parts of this bridge and maybe trees are now at the bottom of the first drop and you should scout the drop before paddling it. Debris could also be found further down the river form the bridge site and drop so caution should be taken while paddling the river. Keep in mind that the only time that this river is normally run is when it is in flood and the turbidity of the water is not the best for looking for trees and parts of bridges under water. Therefore if you are not happy with the situation portage the drop. Safety
