Member Benefits

Whitewater New Zealand is like a union for paddle sports. By joining, you are supporting the work we do. Your $10 helps fund our projects and increases the impact that we can have to protect, access and safely enjoy rivers. The Whitewater NZ board and operations are done entirely on a voluntary basis.

If that’s not enough reason to join, we also have a number of supporting organisations below who provide discounts or similar to Whitewater NZ members, simply show them your digital membership card. Discounts vary and is at the discretion of the retailers.

Supporting Organisations

FMC Affiliation benefits

“WWNZ has recently affiliated to Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ, which will strengthen our voice on conservation and management issues.  It also means all our members have the opportunity to access some of the FMC member benefits!”

WWNZ has only affiliated its Board members and the president/captain of each WWNZ affiliated club. Whitewater New Zealand passes discount cards/ Backcountry magazines directly onto those people. There are over 50 discounts, including 30% off a DOC annual hut pass.

Other WWNZ members who wish to get a FMC discount card and a years’ subscription to Backcountry posted directly to them are now eligible to sign up to the D2U service for $20 a year.  (normally $45 for individuals) https://fmc.org.nz/join-fmc/#benefits

All WWNZ members are also eligible for expedition scholarships and WWNZ can apply for funding through the FMC training grant. and purchase FMC pack liners and copies of Safety in the mountains.  https://fmc.org.nz/sales/.

 

Mangahao Fund 

Active members of Whitewater New Zealand and affiliated clubs of Whitewater New Zealand are also eligibleto apply to the Mangahao Fund Committee for funding for a project that meets a criterion of the Committee, these are usually projects for the benefit of the Lower North Island or of national significance

Photo competitions

Whitewater New Zealand runs an annual photo competition with cash prizes for our members every winter. Winners are voted on through our social channels. The winners are then submitted to the FMC photo competition:

FMC
runs a photo comp with $3-6k worth of prizes:  WWNZ submits our winners and other top photos which go up against all the top shots from our other 98 FMC clubs.   Entries close 15 September for clubs.
