Variation of Buller Water Conservation Order rejected

The Special Tribunal appointed to consider the application by MAJAC Trust for a variation to the Buller Water Conservation Order has presented its report and recommendations (PDF, 161k) to the Minister for the Environment. The report has recommended that the application for a variation be declined, on the basis that amenity values other than just rafting (for example, fishing and kayaking values) also needed to be included in the case for a variation. The NZRCA has been actively involved in this case from the beginning (2005, 2004, 2002).
