DESCRIPTION:The Kaitoke Gorge team race is Saturday\, 2 Oct. followed with a post-race BBQ at the Hutt Valley Canoe Club Clubhouse.\n\nThe festivities will continue at the Kaitoke Regional Park Campground in the evening.\n\nThere will be an individual race on Sunday morning.\n\nEvent Details:\n\n\nComaraderie\, whitewater\, camping\, and all around good times. Come join us for any and all of the Hutt River Festival events.\nFRIDAY\nCamping at Kaitoke Regional Park\, Campsite #4.\nSATURDAY\n9:00am-KAITOKE GORGE TEAM RACE\nThis is the main event hosted by Hutt Valley Canoe Club\, the prestigious and long running (52 years) team races. Registration at 9:00 race start at 10:00.\nPls see https://huttvalleycanoeclub.org.nz/hutt-gorge-race/ for Registration and Race Rules & Details\n2:30ish\, after the team race.\nBBQ and Shield presentation at the HVCC clubhouse.\n5:00ish or anytime after the BBQ.\nCamping and a party at campsite #4 in Kaitoke Regional park. This a very loose “festival.” Really it is just a bunch of whitewater people camping out. SUMMARY:Wairoa River Recreational Water Release
DESCRIPTION:A controlled release of water into the Wairoa River will take place between 10am and 4pm. \nThe Wairoa river near Tauranga is one of New Zealand’s best stretches of accessible white water.  The Trustpower Kaimai Hydroelectric Power Scheme provides great white water for recreational kayakers and rafters\, by regularly releasing water from McLaren Falls dam. \nPlease note\, the top river section is grade four – exceedingly difficult with long and violent rapids.  Safety on the water is your own responsibility\, so suitable skills and preparation is vital.  If in doubt\, contact the Kaimai Canoe Club. \nLocation – McLaren Falls Rd off State Highway 29 Lower Kaimai (Map)
